CST Prepares Graduates 2008

CST administration with the assistance of the teaching force and cooperation of the parents concerned, prepares graduates of school year 2007-2008 for their life after high school at Colegio de Sta. Teresita. The burdening schedule for the whole month of March was worth doing because we knew those are of big help to the students we cared and nurtured for four years.

One of the activities for the graduating students was the Career Orientation on March 14, 2008 at the school’s Conference Room. Speakers in the different fields were invited. Rev. Fr. Eleno Delizon, former President of CST Alumni Association inspired the graduating class in his speech about financial difficulties yet his God-given talents helped him cope- up with his finances while he was in the seminary. Dr. Ma. Joy Anacta, M.D., also a CST alumna, reminded the students who dream to be doctors that such a medical profession should not be chosen as a career for one to be financially stable. It should be chosen primarily to help the sick, especially those who are less foretunate. Other CST alumni who are now professionals of Laoang who inspired, taught lessons in life and shared their hardships and successes, were Mr. Michael Froilan, a teacher in Laoang National High School; PO3 Jerico Acedera; and Engr. Israel Infante. They talked about values learned in school and how one could use them when he is in a position. Our Computer teacher, Miss Charmaine C. Galupo unfolded to the students what awaits to an Information Technology graduate. Sr. Evangeline Pejano, AR. focused her discussion on life that gives enough if not much for God. According to her, if one wants quite and peaceful life and feels that she has a vocation or a calling from God, she must answer that call by entering Religious life. Atty. Venerando Desales, father of Mikhail Paolo Desales, a graduating student, talked about implementing laws of the country, yet considering one’s values as a person, particularly the rights of other people. He also shared about what attitude towards failure one lawyer should develop. Finally, he defined a good lawyer as one who fights for the truth and welfare of the people.

At the end of the day, students learned that there may be roads to get to the top but there is only one view once you get the top; that is the glory of God.

On the day before graduation, the graduating class attended their final Recollection in high school. Recollection Master, Rev. Fr. Eleno Delizon discussed life His discussion was focused on how one spend his life here on earth. He reminded everyone to care for his life and body because it is the temple of the Holy Spirit; to use his life in serving God, for God is our Creator and we serve no other than Him. At 2 PM, a Eucharistic Celebration joined by the parents of the graduating class was offered. After the Mass everybody gathered at the quadrangle for the tribute to parents and bequeathal to the Juniors. It has been a practice that before our students leave the portals of the school, we give then=m chance to thank their parents. Because of this activity, some students were able to express their gratitude and love for their parents for the first time. The afternoon was overflowing with gratitude and love of children to their parents and vice- versa. The juniors were also there to receive the key of responsibilities. To complete the bequeathal, the Last Will and Testament was read. The day’s activities ended at 6 PM.

March 25, 2008 was the 61st Commencement Exercises. Most Rev. Emmanuel C. Trance, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Catarman, con-celebrated by 6 priests from the diocese presided the Eucharistic Celebration. Bishop Trance stayed late that afternoon because he witnessed the graduation. He distributed the diploma to the graduates and the certificates to the outstanding parents for their loyalty to the school for sending at least three (3) children to study in CST.

A total of 51 graduates; 28 boys and 23 girls marched the center isle and received their certificate of completion in high school. As part of the program, a speech of gratitude was the content of the valediction, delivered by Marinesa C. Cerbito. Graduating as Valedictorian owes her much gratitude to her mother (her father died when she was only 3 months old), who did her duties as a father and mother to her, to her siblings for the support, to the teachers whom she consider as wind beneath her wings, to the Administration for seeing the best in her, to her classmates for accepting her and for not discriminating her because she graduated her elementary in a Barangay school, and above all to God for giving her all she has, including people around her.
