Welcome Back to SFJC (SY 2007-2008)

By: Sr. Marilyn N. Cula, AR

June 4, 2007 was the opening day for the school year 2007 – 2008 in San Francisco Javier College. With the old and new teachers and administration, all students felt excited and happy on that first day of classes. Praise God we increase in enrolment.  We hope and pray that the good Lord continue to guide and protect us in our journey this school year.

To preserve the quality education of San Francisco Javier College as well as to maintain peace and order during the school year, an orientation on the school rules and regulations and the vision-mission of the school was conducted by the teachers in their respective advisory classes.  On June 15, Feast of the Sacred Heart, the Javierians offered their first thanksgiving mass for the school year to seek guidance and protection of the Holy Spirit.

One of the genuine ways that motivates the Javierians to develop a balance personality is to  have  a monthly activity wherein the students’ abilities, talents and skills are harnessed.

SFJC celebrated the Feast of Mt. Carmel to commemorate the apparition of our Lady on July 16, 1251 to St. Simon Stock showing a brown scapular and declared, “Whoever wears it until death will be saved from hell.” The holy sacrifice of the mass was offered and officiated by an alumnus of SFJC, Fr. Louie Gabinete, OAR.  The investiture of the new members of the Confraternity of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel was held within the holy sacrifice of the mass.  It was followed by the induction of class and club officers then later by the acquaintance party which filled the whole campus with laughter and of course delicious foods.

The nutrition month, which is held every July promotes healthful living.  The adviser of the TLE Club, Ms. Mary Ann G. Padilla organized nutri-jingle presentations and cook fest.  The activities ended with smile and gladness in everyone’s heart.  All the participants wonderfully performed their parts and with God’s guidance, the presentations became meaningful and maybe one of the memories that the students will cherish forever.

Last July 2007, the Bureau of Fire Protection conducted a seminar on Fire Prevention and Fire Drill at SFJC.  Everyone participated in this activity.  The students were given pointers on what to do before, during and after the fire.  The most exciting part was when the students were told to presume that there is fire. A fire truck entered the school campus and so the students frantically dramatized a make belief situation of fire. The drill became successful because of the cooperation of everybody.

Responding to the call of God to go and preach the good news to all strata of humanity, the Javierians set their annual evangelization seminar on July 25, 2007 at our Saint Ezekiel Moreno Hall.  Wow! We were deeply amazed with the Elementary pupils and High school students’ active participations in the seminar.  We hope and pray that their expectations and realizations will be concretized in their daily lives.

August, tagged as Filipino Month elevates our courage and strengthens our identity as Filipinos, thus we stand still and feel “Proud to be a Pinoy”. During this month we also celebrate the feast of our congregation’s beloved patron, St. Augustine. As part of the celebration, sports fest or intramural was held in the school. It was facilitated and managed by the energetic members of the school’s Sports Club.  This month’s celebrations bring out the best in the students, in all aspects, spiritually, socially and intellectually.

The Filipino Club portrayed a splendid stage presentation, which was participated in by the Elementary, High School and College Departments.  These fun-filled co-curricular activities gave the Javierians an experience of relaxation and enjoyment. But most of all it developed friendship, sportsmanship and unity among the students. All these are done in honor of our great father St. Augustine and for the greater glory of God.

Gradually but surely, SFJC is moving forward in making a difference in our society because our school is capable of producing well-trained, mature and responsible individuals.

May these accomplishments continue through the years for the furtherance of the growth and development of San Francisco Javier College School and community.
