St. Paul Academy Soars Up

By: Sr. Elfleda Palma, AR.

St.  Paul Academy is blessed to have 510 enrollment this School Year 2007-2008. A good number to journey with,  in the field of Christian education.  We have 3 sections per year level in high school with 40-45 students per classroom, statistically school population did not drop significantly and we praise God for this blessing.

To start the school year, the administrators, faculty and students celebrated a mass to the Holy Spirit last June 2, 2007 with Rev.  Fr.  Antonio Medida, the Parish Priest of Bantayan officiating. It was celebrated meaningfully with the ritual of lighting candles invoking the Holy Spirit’s seven gifts

Late of June, was the town fiesta of Bantayan.  SPA joined the Palawod Festival for the 3rd time in 5 years!  We got the 3rd Place among the 8 contingents despite the limited time for practice,  preparation and finances! But we were first in Street Dancing.  Our performers gave their best in honor of Sts.  Peter & Paul.

On July 16, we celebrated the Feast of our Lady of Mt.  Carmel with a solemn mass, investiture of the C.O.L.C  members. In the afternoon there was a cook out by each section, a contest activity of the Homemakers Club for the Nutrition Month. Parlor games were also among the activities that the students love and enjoy. The barrio fiesta spirit was obviously seen and felt by everyone.  It was indeed a fun and grace- filled day celebrating Mama Mary’s feastday in such fashion.
