A Bountiful AY 2007-2008 for ICC – Balayan

By: Sr. Ma. Lirio Guillermo, AR.

ICC – Balayan, Batangas opened the Academic Year 2007-2008 with gratitude to the Father. Gradual enrolment increase from this school year and on is just like the gentle rain that falls on the flowery month of May. The joint efforts of the administrators, teachers, staff, parents and students themselves have somehow at least contributed to the increase of this year’s enrolment in ICC. Certain marks of increase in enrolment in all levels are evident in the increase of sections in 1st year college, 1st & 4th years in high school and in the 1st grade. The school is also being helped by the parish priest himself, Msgr. Oriondo, by remembering ICC and encouraging parents to send their children in ICC.

Working on the standardization of the school, all levels in ICC-Balayan are preparing for the Final PAASCU and PACUCOA visits. It is the wish of every true blooded ICCinian  that the school’s move for accreditation will catalyze increase of enrolment in the coming years. Becoming accredited entails so much prayers, efforts, and never-ending hard works of love for the Church and the clientele. To run schools in this highly globalized society would only mean openness. Opening doors and establishing linkages will truly widen our respective catchment areas. It is best to know who our clientele is that we may be able to serve them according to their needs.

Right at the beginning of the school year, all departments conducted series of seminars with their respective faculty members and students. For the College Department, through the leadership of Sr. Modesta, faculty members have undergone Community Development Seminar last July 2007. Aside from inviting speakers, their very own Mrs. Myra Absin, delivered topics on: Evaluation, Test Construction, Table of Specifications and Dr. Fely Castillo, conducted a Research Seminar for them.

Sr. Mary Ann conducted a training for CLE Teachers in the Grade School. The entire teachers of the department had also undergone training in the use of computer technology. Sr. Maria Lirio for her part conducted seminars to the high school teachers on Change Management, Strategic Thinking, Problem Solving, TQM & Kaizen, Time Management and Religion as Core of the Curriculum. All of these seminars and workshops have been geared towards quality delivery of instruction.

In the recently concluded Balayan Athletic Meet 2007, ICC garnered the following wins and awards: Men’s Basketball Champion, Men’s Volleyball Third Place, Men’s Chess Champion – Jhuniel Mallari, Women’s Chess Third Place – Regine Prigo, Men’s Table Tennis Silver Medalists – Jake Niño Depusoy and Ronielle Pantoja, Badminton: Single B Champion – Miguel Rival, Single A 2nd Runner Up – Mark Joseph Bugarin, Doubles – Jomari Besas and Christian Macalindong – 2nd Runner Up; Female: Single A 1st Runner Up – Ma. Gloria Ramos and Doubles 1st Runner Up – Alona Salazar and Mimsy Monique Bugay. Emerging Champion in Taekwondo for Women is Allysa Veron Maningat and best of all, the proclaimed Best Muse is also ICC’s High School Campus Queen, a fourth year student, a Talangpaz Scholar, ARSC President and has ranked first in the previous school year is Miss Juliana Kapuendl – daughter of a German-Filipina couple. We hope that just like Joie Maranan, who was a Talangpaz Scholar and last school year’s Valedictorian who is currently a BS Accountancy Student in ICC, Juliana will also be with us in her college studies.

For these and many more, our sincerest gratitude to the Father. Jesus name praised. To Him be honor and glory forever.
